Project Summary

The aim of my doctoral research is applying a regional study in the Camarones Valley at the North of Chile to understand how a wide variety of Prehispanic communities inhabited the valley.
This project constitutes the first application of a long-term perspective in the Atacama Desert to understand human settlement. Mobility conceptualisation accompanied with nonlinear approaches will help address this perspective and at the same time to get the most from perishable materials that maintain an excellent state of preservation in the area.
The application of this research demonstrates the feasibility of facing archaeological research by adopting a new methodology oriented to get the most from the context, and not constraining research to a specific methodological tradition.

Supervisory Team

My doctoral research is supervised by Marisa Lazzary and Ioana Oltean.
