Reading for a PhD in Earth Resources.

2008-2009:

CSM, University of Exeter in Cornwall

MSc in Mining Geology
I achieved a Merit in this course, which focussed on understanding the formation and efficient utilisation of a variety of mineral deposit types.

2005-2008:

CSM, University of Exeter in Cornwall

BSc in Applied Geology
I achieved a first class honours degree in a course covering the application of a huge variety of geological techniques, as accredited by the Geological Society.

Professional/research experience

January 2010 - July 2010:

Horizonte Minerals

Rio Grande do Sul and Para, Brazil

This project involved grassroots exploration, general mapping and the organisation and completion of a mineralisation orientation and ensuing stream sediment survey campaign for a gold site.

Responsibilities included organising and completing GPS based mapping and sampling (both of rock and stream sediments), and subsequently processing appropriate data; generating maps utilising MapInfo, displaying sample location, geochemistry and geological associations.

In the latter stages of the exploration programme I was also tasked with ground truthing areas identified by the stream sediment programme as containing anomalous Au; this included focussed localised mapping of lithologies and alteration and extensive sampling.

Additionally, I was involved in the investigation of desirable mineral tenements for future projects, which required the location, identification and interrogation of government databases.

June 2008 - September 2008:

Zamin Resources

Tocantins, Brazil

This project involved exploration on an ironstone site. My responsibilities included GPS based mapping and profiling in bush and jungle terrian with associated sample colelction, monitoring drill rigs and recording and logging the produced core, and organising sample teams developing trenches to determine deposit depth and grade.
