I am a PhD candidate in the department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Exeter. My research focuses on the evidence provided by ancient Greek and Latin curse tablets. My particular focus is on the way in which individuals conceptualised the roles of the dead and the divine in these tablets.
In an attempt to make the world of curse tablets (as well as Classics and Ancient History generally) more accessible and engaging I share my research in a more creative format via Instagram. The idea is to encourage people to believe that Classics is a little bit strange! https://www.instagram.com/katadesmoichar/
As well as my work on Instagram I am a trainer for Classics for All, working to train primary school teachers so that they can deliver Latin following the Maximum Classics syllabus.
I am based on the beautiful south Devon coast in Salcombe but can be found on campus most weeks. Outside of my research I adore reading widely as well as surfing and cultivating my garden.

I was one of the university's 20 in 2020 researchers and you can read more about my work on this blog: https://researchandinnovation.co.uk/greek-and-latin-curse-tablets/
I was nominated for the University's Student Employee of the Year Award 2020 by Crew Clothing Company for my role in their flagship store in Salcombe throughout my studies.
