Project Summary

My research spans several topics of mental health research. A brief description of my current substantive projects are described below:

1. Developing national guidance with the National Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Nursing Director's Forum and the Care Quality Commission on the topics of ligature harm minimisation in the built environment and making enhanced observations more therapeutic.

2. Developing and feasibilty testing specific guidance for those providing mealtime support to individuals with an eating disorder (NHS HEE funded).

3. Conducting a realist synthesis to map trauma-informed practice across the BOB and Frimley Integrated Care Systems (NHS England & NHS HEE funded).

4. Piloting a new care plan - co-designed using appreciative inquiry - across several mental health teams to increase co-production in care planning.

5. Integrating nature-based approaches in forensic and CAMHS settings.

6. Exploring the concept of sexual safety in forensic and learning disability settings (supervision of two DClin Psy projects).

Wider Research Interests

I am interested in truly applied research that has a direct impact on how mental health support is provided across the health and social care sectors.

I am passionate about promoting the integration of robust research and research-informed approaches with the lived experience and experiential knowledge of stakeholders in health and social care systems.
