Eleanor Shipton is a AHRC funded PhD student, with a specialisation in nineteenth-century literature, technology and the body.

She is currently working with Professor John Plunkett (University of Exeter) and Professor Mary Hammond (University of Southampton) on a thesis centred on the concept of the ‘postal body’ in nineteenth-century literature. More specifically, this work will use mobility theory as a foundation with which to reveal a complex system of information exchange through the nineteenth-century Post Office, and the ways in which this becomes embodied within literary imagination.

Eleanor is joint PGR Rep for the Centre for Victorian Studies at Exeter. She is also the Assistant Editor for English on the new journal for Exeter postgraduates in English, Film and Creative Writing, Exclamat!on

Eleanor completed her MA at King's College, London, and her undergraduate studies at the University of Exeter.
