Having been award a £3500 AHRC Researcher Development Award, I spent six weeks at the archives at the University of Columbia, as well as at the Berg Collection and the Manuscripts and Archives Division of the New York Public Library. At Columbia I was engaged in research orienting around a series of recordings Eliot undertook at the University in the early 1930s along with a number of other Modernist poets. I was also seeking to unearth a series of dialect experiments which were running concurrent to the Modernist Poets project. The archives at the New York Public Library facilitated a broader historical understanding of Eliot's persistent concerns over the copyrights to his work, the degree of control over its reception, and authorial autonomy. These archives also provided greater illumination on the burgeoning public-speaking career he would have in his later years.

Under the supervision of Professor John Plunkett and Dr. Joe Kember, I undertook archival research work at the British Library for the AHRC-funded project Moving and Projected-Image Exhibition in the South-West 1820-1914.
