Gemma Delafield is currently pursing a PhD in Environmental Economics at the University of Exeter’s Land, Environment, Economics and Policy Institute (LEEP). She graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2015 with a BSc in Environmental Science. An industrial placement and subsequent graduate role within the energy industry furthered her interest in the pressing energy-environment issues currently facing the UK and potential ways of solving them.

Gemma is undertaking a NERC funded studentship which is part of the Addressing Valuation of Energy and Nature Together (ADVENT) research project.  She will be applying quantitative analysis methods to the problem of designing policies for future energy production in the UK under the supervision of Professor Brett Day, Professor Ian Bateman and Dr Paolo Agnolucci.  The focus of the research will be on determining where in the UK to locate future generation and transmission infrastructure particularly with regards to the ecosystem service impacts resulting from different spatial configurations.
