College: College of Humanities

As a researcher I am very much a hybrid who believes in a multidisciplinary approach to the majority of questions. Having initially studied a BA in Ancient History at Exeter University, I went on to complete an MA in International Relations before journeying back down to corridor to begin my PhD. My PhD investigates the influences on and devleopment of rule of one (under whatever moniker) on the island of Syracuse. In particular, my thesis looks at the influence of Near Eastern monarchy as a paradigm for that in Syracuse and Sicily's role as a precursor for Hellenistic kingship.

I am also a co-editor of the Classics and Ancient History departmental journal 'Pegasus' for the 2019-20 edition.
