I hold an LLB (Law) from the University of Kent, Canterbury, as part of which I specialised in human rights, asylum law and international law. Throughout my studies I have trained at and worked with various regional and international organisations as well as NGOs, focusing on the fields of security, development, migration and asylum.

As part of my PhD I have concentrated on the fields of security and development, researching the interrelationship between gender policies and conflict transformation on the example of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

My general research interests lie in all of the above named areas and I am currently working on expanding my research in the fields of asylum and political participation.
