Over the course of my studies, I have developed a strong interest in modern european social and cultural history. I studied for two years in a preparatory class in Strasbourg – The Hypokhâgne and Khâgne – which prepares candidates for the entry exams to the ‘Grandes Ecoles’. This intensive multi-disciplinary formation gave me an important background in sociology, economy and a comprehensive knowledge of twentieth-century history. I hold a BA and MA degree in modern European history from the Université de Nancy. After my MA, I have had the valuable opportunity to work as full-time research assistant at the University of Glamorgan on a Leverhulme funded project entitled ‘Outcast Europe’. This project explored refugee experiences during the Second World War. I am currently in my first year of a PhD on displaced persons in the French Occupation Zone in Germany funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
