Project Summary

My research is an investigation into the demands of stillness in Western classical music performance (WCM), which challenge and elude current understandings and trainings for virtuosity in piano performance.

In order to address these demands, my project is a phenomenological inquiry into the application of psychophysical (mind-body) process-based trainings from various disciplines, such as yoga, tai chi, and actor training, and their potential effects in WCM piano performance.
