Intro:

Hello, I am Mohammed Asiri, a PhD student at the Institute of Arab and Islamic studies at the University of Exeter. I am also a lecturer in the department of Arabic language and literature at King Abdul Aziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. 

 

Education:

BA  in Arabic language and literature from King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, 2004.

MA in Arabic literature and rhetoric from Umm al-Qura University, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, 2009.

English diploma from IELP (International English Language Programm) at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington States, United States of America, 2012.

MPhil in Arabic studies from the Institute of Arab and Islamic studies at the University of Exeter, United Kingdom, 2017.

 

Research interests:

Modern Arabic literature. 

Narratology (the study of novels).

Imagology (stereotypes in literature).

Occidentalism in Arabic literature.

 

Current research project:

I am currently working on the representation of America and the Americans in Saudi novels: an imagological study on Ghazi Al-Gosaibi's novels.
