Jan Pieter Beetz BSc, BA, MSc, MA (Erasmus University Rotterdam)

I am a third year PhD candidate in Politics at the University of Exeter. In my dissertation research, I am pursuing my interests in the EU’s legitimacy from a historicist conceptual perspective. I have been awarded the Politics Bursary and the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfondsbeurs. I also received the University of Exeter Travel Bursary for a visiting scholarship at the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.

I was born and raised in The Hague in the Netherlands. I read Public Administration and Philosophy of Law and Social Science at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. In addition to bachelor degrees in both disciplines, I obtained an MSc in International Public Management and Policy (2009; cum laude), which was awarded the Unilever Research Prize 2009. Furthermore, I received an MA in Philosophy of Science (2010; distinction), as part of the program, I went on a student exchange to the University of Sydney (Australia).
