My background lies within both Geography and History. Having obtained a BA in History from Cambridge University, I went on to study for an MSc in Landscape, Heritage and Environment at Queen’s University, Belfast. My interests have always focused on visual presentation, particularly exhibitions. My undergraduate dissertation, entitled ‘Exhibiting the Liberty Style, 1875-1917’ examined the spatial layout of the shop floor, as well as the uniforms, advertising, interior design, theatre costumes and formal exhibitions within a commercial context. This interest in exhibitions was further developed during my master’s thesis, which examined the spatial and temporal narratives present within the Ulster-American Folk Park in Co. Tyrone, again looking at architectural and sartorial presentation. Linked with this is my interest in museums. Alongside my undergraduate work I volunteered at the Fitzwilliam Museum and was the Leslie Melville Intern in the Department of Coins and Medals at the British Museum. Here, I was able to gain professional experience while pursuing an interest in numismatics. After graduating from my master’s, I documented the collection of Sentry Hill, an historic house in Co. Antrim.
