Project Summary

My research focuses on race, ethnicity, and telecommunications in Britain and its Empire, 1920-1940. I aim to investigate the Post and Telegraph Department, its publications, and labor practices & telegraphic practices to highlight the achievements, aspirations, disappointments, and daily concerns of Indian men and women.

Supervisory Team

My supervisory team consists of Dr. Richard Noakes, Associate Professor of the History of Science and Technology, and Dr. Stacey Hynd, Senior Lecturer in African History. Teams from British Telecommunications Archive and PK Porthcurno assist in this.

Wider Research Interests

My wider research interests include performances of Indian Independence Movements outside the subcontinent, in specific the Indian National Army, The Ghadar Movement, Madam Bhikaji Cama, and international networks of 'terrorist' organizations. I am also interested in the study of visual sources- print media, fine art, popular art, and its ability to encode and transmit information.
