Yanira Becerra-Ortiz (Santiago de Chile, 1984) holds a Bachelor's degree in Hispanic Language and Literature and a Master's degree in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Chile, complemented by ongoing doctoral studies in Education at the University of Exeter. With a career spanning 16 years, my expertise lies in teaching, lexicography, and the integration of cutting-edge technological skills, including proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, statistical analysis, and qualitative analysis tools like NVivo.

My extensive teaching experience encompasses both undergraduate and postgraduate levels across various esteemed public and private universities in Chile. Throughout my tenure, I have cultivated a profound interest in academic writing and the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language.

My passion for lexicography was ignited during my undergraduate thesis, leading to a prestigious scholarship from Fundación Carolina, enabling me to pursue advanced studies at the Escuela de Lexicografía Hispánica of the Real Academia Española in Madrid. Subsequently, I contributed as an assistant intern at the Academia Chilena de la Lengua, notably participating in the collaborative development of the Diccionario Fraseológico del Español de Chile (Difruech).

Presently, as a doctoral candidate in Education at the University of Exeter, I am honored to be supported by a grant from the Chilean National Research Agency (ANID). My research is centered on investigating the utilization of metadiscursive resources in postgraduate writing, with a particular emphasis on their impact on the perception of writing quality. Moreover, I have further honed my proficiency in quantitative analysis and the adept use of technological tools for textual analysis, enhancing the depth and rigor of my research endeavors.
