Every day, we discover a little more about the astonishing cognitive abilities of animals - so I hope to continue working in this exciting field.
To me, it is particularly interesting to establish what constitutes animal "intelligence", in an effort to challenge the idea that there are aspects of cognition that are uniquely human.
Also, as the human influence on the world grows, it becomes important to examine how the interaction with human life shapes the development of niche-specific cognitive abilities of animals.
