Project Summary

My current focus is mid-to-late-nineteenth-century poetry and prose fiction, particularly Aesthetic and Decadent work, and the representation of physical art-objects. In particular, I seek to employ Friedrich Kittler's insights into the operation of media -- both digital and analogue -- to give a new perspective on the genre of ekphrasis and its use during this period.

Supervisory Team

I am co-supervised by Professor Regenia Gagnier and Dr Kate Hext.

Wider Research Interests

My interests centre on mid-to-late-nineteenth century texts and include representations of gender and mental illness, ekphrasis, and visual culture. I also have a particular interest in digital humanities, and how  opportunities offered by new digital media can contribute to literary studies.

Papers and presentations are available on my academia.edu profile.
