 F. Begum Yildizeli is a third year History PhD student at University of Exeter. Her background is primarily in international relations and political science. She completed her undergraduate degree at Yildiz Technical University (Istanbul) in 2007. In 2009 she obtained a full scholarship both for her MA and PhD studies from the Ministry of National Education, Republic of Turkey. She had her MA degree in Contemporary History at University of Sussex in 2010. 

Along with the diplomatic history background, her doctoral research is based on the foreign policies of the British statesman W.E.Gladstone towards the Ottomans and the Eastern Question during the period 1874-1885. Besides, she aims to examine the reasons for his `Turcophobia` in consideration with the pivotal events both inside the British politics and the diplomacy towards the Ottoman Empire.

Her research interests mainly include British and Turkish diplomacy, 19th century Ottoman Empire, The British Empire,  World Wars and the political history of the Republic of Turkey.
