Gareth Morris currently works as a language instructor at Xian Jiao Tong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) where he teaches English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Having begun his university teaching career at Soochow University, he is now a member of XJTLU's Language Centre Management Team, and the Chair of his Centre's Learning and Teaching Committee. He also represents the Centre on the University's Learning and Teaching Committee.

Gareth is also a member of the Design Research Institute and the Research Institute of Urbanisation. He is a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) qualified teacher, and holds a Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), and a Masters in Education (MEd) from the University of Exeter. He is now studying for an EdD in TESOL at the University of Exeter.

To date, Gareth has presented at conferences in Australia, China, England, India and Japan, and has had his work published internationally in journals and conference proceedings. Gareth's current research interests include curriculum and materials design, language assessment and testing, and L2 motivation. He is also particularly interested in the concept of teaching professionalism, especially as it relates to the field of TESOL, and the importance that ongoing professional learning plays in developing practitioners’ competencies.
