I am a current postgraduate student in French Studies. My research topic focuses on representations of female homosociality (i. e. friendship, solidarity, and rivalry between women) in French Belle époque culture (1880-1914).

I am interested in how interactions between women were portrayed in popular novels, conduct manuals for girls, women's magazines, and visual culture in a context characterised by the rise of first-wave feminism, the opening up of new educational and career opportunities for women, and the appearance of the New Woman.

In 2009 I have obtained a double BA degree in European Literary Cultures from the University of Bologna (Italy) and the University of Haute Alsace (France) followed in 2011 by an MA in Foreign Language Teaching from the University of Nantes (France). Before starting my PhD I have worked in the field of teaching and educational publishing in France and in the United States.
