Project Summary

My project investigates the role of trade unions within the British Labour party in the period 1931-40, paying particular attention to the internal politics of major unions, party organisation, finance, policy, and other aspects of Labour's political culture.

Supervisory Team

Professor Andrew Thorpe and Professor Richard Toye.

Wider Research Interests

My main interests are in twentieth century British and European social and political history, particularly the history of labour movements and parties of the left, and the historical role of ideology, organisation and culture in politics.
