I am currently enrolled on an Arts and Humanities Research Council sponsored Collaborative Doctoral Award, which began in October 2011. The project is titled 'Remembrance, Commemoration and Memory: Negotiating the Politics of Display in the Imperial War Museum Public Programmes, 1960 - 2014' and is a partnership between the Imperial War Museum in London and the University of Exeter. This builds upon my previous degrees at Exeter; BA Human Geography, awarded in July 2009, and a Masters in Research (Critical Human Geographies), awarded in November 2010.

My research experience has allowed me to grapple with key academic ideas and debates in historical geography and the First World War through separate dissertation theses (‘An Examination of Popular Presentations of World War One through a Cross Section of Museum Sites and Exhibitions’ (2009) and ‘An Investigation into the Dynamic Understandings of British First World War Heritage and the ‘Post Living Memory’ Generation’ (2010).

In May 2011,  I ceased an Exeter University Departmentally-funded PhD, (‘Amateur Genealogy, Archaeology and Battlefield Tourism: the Practices of  British Post Living-Memory Remembrance of the First World War’ - commenced in October 2010) in order to undertake this new project.
