I am currently in the final year of my AHRC funded PhD in History researching attitudes towards fashionable illnesses and concerns about the simulation of these conditions in eighteenth-century Britain. Building upon my interest in cultural and literary history my work is strongly interdisciplinary, incorporating both historical and literary methods and sources.

I began my studies at Durham University with an undergraduate degree in English Literature and History. After graduating in 2010 with a BA First Class Honours I remained in Durham, receiving an MA with Distinction in Early Modern History in autumn 2011.

During my time at Durham University I also pursued my historical interests in my spare time, working for North Yorkshire County Council as museum attendant in the local facilities.
