Dr Lata Ramoutar

I enjoy my current work because it involves a good balance: applying psychology in schools to support vulnerable children and their families, staff and other professionals with specialist time for adopted children and those living in guardianship; working as an academic and professional tutor with trainee educational psychologists at the University of Exeter. The latter involves supervising, teaching and marking which maintains and develops my knowledge of psychology within education.

Studying the EdD gave me an opportunity to develop my own research skills and also fresh insight into the experiences of the trainees as they complete the Doctorate. My career aspirations are to amplify the voice of those children living in guardianship and continue working across both school and University contexts, endeavouring to be the best psychologist I can be.
