My doctoral thesis (2019-2022) draws upon ethnography, critical race methodologies and critical pedagogies to examine how teachers relate their funds of identity with Black British cultures in processes of digital resource mediation for schools across the Southwest of England.

2019-2020:

MPhil in Education (Upgrade to PhD) Within a context of teacher education and development, examining how Black British educators draw upon funds of knowledge to evaluate digital resources for dialogue about race, anti-racism and social justice in rural primary and secondary schools in England and Wales. In 2014 I was awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travelling Fellowship.



My project was based upon the theme of ‘Helping Britain's young, socially excluded to achieve in schools through global alternative or supplementary education’. As part of this action research project, I spent six weeks visiting community-based educators, academics, charities and self-funded organisations across Denmark, Sweden (Scandinavia), United States (New York, New Orleans), St Lucia (Caribbean) and Guyana (South America). This work was deceminated through report, presentation, community lectures and teacher trade union dialogues.
