My academic life started at Queen Mary University, where I studied English. After a brief period of working at Buckingham Palace I decided to return to academia. This time I headed north to the University of Edinburgh, where I completed an MSc in ‘Environment, Culture and Society’. After graduating I was employed by the University of Edinburgh’s sustainability office as a ‘sustainability engagement facilitator’. During this time my ideas for a PhD thesis started to form, which were strongly influenced by both the current job role and my previous education in English and Geography. In September I joined the University of Exeter, after being awarded the AHRC ‘Environment and Sustainability’ scholarship.
