I have been working with the module coordinators to compile a series of practical sessions for the new Natural Sciences programme. I have also been involved in the filming of short videos demonstrating simple techniques.
Role as a tutor for first year undergraduates to teach them essential maths and statistics, and for final year students who need statistical advice for their research project. This role also involved the development of online interactive modules to help demonstrate the steps required in basic statistical tests.
This role required me to assist in the preparation of course materials and marking of assessments for various modules.
This was a 6 stage course which covered the following topics of teaching in higher education - Teaching for Interactive Learning, Planning to Teach, Assessment Principles and Challenges, Marking and Giving Feedback, Microteaching and Evaluation and Reflection. This was followed up by a 6000 word assignment which has given me the accreditation of 'Associate of the Higher Education Authority'.
This role involved me demonstrating during various undergraduate laboratory sessions. I had to ensure that the students understood the protocols and carried out work correctly, as well as teaching the scientific concepts underpinning the experiments through helping them answer questions.
This was a one day course which provided me with the skills needed for teaching in higher education. This included writing learning objectives, questioning techniques and micro teaching.
