Tian Xu (Tianna) is originally from the city of Shenzhen, China. She has been lived and studied in the UK for the past 5 years. Her research interests lie in applied linguistics, higher education internationalisation, intercultural interaction, social mobility and data science education. 

Currently, she is a Doctoral Researcher at the University of Exeter who is completing her PhD in exploring intercultural interaction with culturally and linguistically different people - through the lens of international volunteers from Mainland China. 

Before which, she was a postgraduate of MSc in Educational Research at the University of Exeter, the UK in the academic year of 2015-2016 and MSc TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at the University of Glasgow, the UK in the academic year of 2013-2014.

Tianna has extensive teaching experiences in statistics and social science research methodology, and research experiences in educational and social science research studies. She positioned in several different research assistants and research fellow roles at the University of Exeter in the year starting from 2015.
