I am currently a PhD student in Drama at University of Exeter with a research focus in representation of East Asian identities in the contemporary British theatres. I am funded by China Scholarship Council.

Before coming to the UK I did my undergraduate programme at Wuhan University, China in Literature of Drama and Film and Television. Alongside studies of theories and practice of drama and film, I have directed and performed Shakespeare plays in China for four years.

I gained my MA Theatre Practice also at Exeter with Distinction. I have also built my research interest in the concepts of embodied translation and adaptation for stage performances since then.

Alongside my research I am also a performer practicing my research interests. I am the associate artist of East Asian theatre company Cheeky Chin. My recent performance pieces include autobiographical solo performance All the Daughters of My Father’s House (2017-2018) and collective devising performance Lucky Ping-Pong Dragon Karaoke (2018-2019).
