Project Summary
My research interest includes making use of mixed methods research to analyse language students’ compositions in an attempt to determine local, global and overall text cohesion in written compositions. The data collected that may or may not contain evidence of connectives and cohesion devices (e.g., ‘‘and’’, ‘‘but’’, ‘‘because’’) will be analysed and compared along with other corpora that include various types of connectors. Additionally, the study will try to define whether the scripts are aligned to the learning objectives, language content and assessment guidelines suggested by the Common European Framework. For example, collected L2 scripts should include evidence of cohesion at local level (e.g., sentence), global level (e.g., paragraph) as well as overall text cohesion (e.g., sentence and paragraph levels).
