15 credit Masters level module that feeds into the MSc in Skeletal Image Interpretation
This module develops the student's awareness of the legal ethical and professional responsibilities enabling them to critically evaluate their practice and to reflect on the extended role of the advanced practitioner in the wider context of healthcare policy and provision.
The four pillars of advanced practice are discussed: Research, Leadership, Education and Clinical Expertise and I also offer Pomodoro technique writing workshops so that students have the headspace to work on their M level essays
20 credit stage 2 undergraduate module that feeds into the BSc Medical Imaging programme.
Students develop their knowledge and understanding of common pathological processes encountered in the contemoprary radiology department, together with gaining knowledge of the radiographic apperances of common pathological processes and injuries. Students also learn to research diseases which they are unfamiliar with and gain understanding the role of imaging in diagnosis.
20 credit stage 3 undergraduate module that feeds into the BSc in Medical Imaging programme
This module develops the student's knowledge of the legislative and professional framework that governs radiographic practice together with associated managerial, professional and interprofessional issues encountered in clinical practice. The resulting framework of knowledge and skills supports the safe and equitable practice.
Students also learn about the skills needed to use contrast-enhancing agents safely with an understanding around the complications associated with contrast media, the mitigation measures available against anaphylaxis and the various means that are available for dealing with adverse reactions
